Digital performance has given artists around the world opportunities to develop their craft regardless of access to a theatre or performer pool. But it can be daunting to take advantage of these opportunities when you don't know where to start. How do I self-produce a reading of my play online? What should my setup look like as a digital performer? Is the tech something I'd be able to learn even with no experience? Together, we'll develop your toolbox whether you're a writer, performer, producer, or whatever so you can workshop and perform from anywhere so long as you've got an internet connection.

Come develop the necessary skills to work as a digital writer, performer, or producer!

Glenn B. Rust is a playwright, actor, and theatre technician who grew up doing theatre in Eugene, Oregon. Since leaving Eugene, Glenn has received two Irene Ryan Award Nominations, a Meritorious Achievement from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for his multimedia design used in The Tempest at Linfield College, and created/produced the Columbia College Chicago organization Playwrights Aloud. Glenn has done internships at Remy Bumppo Theatre Company and Timeline Theatre Company for Development and Production Management respectively, and he graduated with a BA in Writing for Performance from Columbia College Chicago in 2019. He now heads up tech for Chicago Dramatists.

A Pacific Northwest based artist, Kory Weimer has been actively working on his dream for over 30 years now on and off the stage, as an actor, director, and fight master. Primarily an on stage performer, he has been dipping his toes into the world of voice acting, as well as streaming content on various sites online. He is beyond pleased to be working once again with Chicago Dramatists.

Classes will be held via Zoom. Instructors will send out Zoom invites one day before class begins. We encourage students to set up a Zoom account for themselves before class if they have not already to ensure when class begins you are able to jump straight into the art!
