Radio & Podcast Production (Summer 2021 Online)

Aug 16 - Oct 04
6:00pm - 9:00pm CST

Instructor: Connie Kuntz

Learn the ins and outs of radio production in this interactive class!

Radio plays and podcasts have never been more vibrant and popular, and are an excellent way to introduce your work to a wide and diverse audience.  This class is for artists interested in learning how to write and record radio plays and podcasts. Each week, students will learn both the creative side of radio, as well as the necessary audio production skills they need to turn their radio and podcast ideas into fully produced work.  Artists will learn how to use Adobe Audition and will build their "radio portfolio" to help them to pursue radio and podcast production professionally.  Some technical skills will be required for this course.

Connie Kuntz is a former reporter, digital editor, and host of the arts series State of the Artist for 89.5 WNIJ, the NPR station for northern Illinois. She currently writes and produces The Stormy, Husky, Brawling Show. She also has written plays for Rockford Area Arts Council, was the editor of The Rockford Review from 2010-2019, the president of Rockford Writers' Guild, and host of the literary podcast Guildy Pleasures. She has written plays, monologues, and fundraising scripts for a variety of non-profits like Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, Rockford Dance Company, and Tinker Swiss Cottage. She is workshopping plays that explore notorious events that are revered in Illinois. Hotbed is the first in this series. Connie is a Network Member of Chicago Dramatists and regularly contributes to Naked Angels Tuesdays@9 Chicago where she is also the music director. Connie has a bachelor's degree in theatre from Cornell College.

Classes will be held via Zoom. Instructors will send out Zoom invites one day before class begins. We encourage students to setup a Zoom account for themselves before class if they have not already to ensure when class begins you are able to jump straight into the art!
