When does ambition make us complicit in our own exploitation? …And then what?
This work-in-progress eavesdrops on a surreal encounter between two American employees with no apparent ties: a rock and roll backup singer from the 1970s, and a 2020s jewelry executive. In a space apart from their real work lives yet infused with those moments, the two discover that they’ve navigated similarly precarious terrain, but with very different approaches and outcomes. As they re-live – and live beyond – those moments, they question their own decisions and each other. A new play exploring Black women, "work" and "success.” (Developed in part through Rivendell Theatre’s Fresh Produce 2025)
This Saturday Series reading is sponsored by Wilkes University, Maslow Family Graduate Program in Creative Writing
