Description

Writing the 10-Minute Play (Spring 2025) (Online)

7 Saturdays
May 03 - Jun 21

1:00pm - 4:00pm Central Time

Instructor: Susan Melinda Morée

Producers are looking for 10-minute plays, and this class will equip you with the tools to write one. The 10-minute play is a calling card; it serves as an introduction of you as a writer and to your larger body of work. Even if you've never written a play before, the 10-minute play is a fun way to dive into theatre and wrap your hands around the basics of playwriting. So whether you want to finish a draft, expand your skills or just try something brand new, this class will give you an opportunity to find your voice with the 10-minute play.

Susan Melinda Morée's plays have been performed in New York City, Montana, Kansas, New Mexico and in a maximum security prison in southern California. She was long-listed for a Leslie Scalapino Award and has been a finalist for a Jerome Fellowship and a Heideman Award. She has taught for Brooklyn College, Rutgers University and other schools, including at a former acting academy in Prague, Czech Republic. She has studied at Columbia University and earned her MFA from Brooklyn College.

Classes will be held via Zoom. Instructors will send out Zoom invites one day before class begins. We encourage students to setup a Zoom account for themselves before class if they have not already to ensure when class begins you are able to jump straight into the art!
